Our Story

Welcome to my little corner of the dog treat world! I’m Kristen, and I’ve always considered my dogs more than just pets; they are family. In my home, we have three corgis: Barley and Hops, the two brothers, and Maple, the smallest but most determined of the bunch. As a family without kids, our dogs are the heartbeat of our home, and I could not imagine life without them.

When looking through the stores for dog treats, much of what I saw was expensive and had ingredients that I could not pronounce. I grew up baking with my grandmother, and figured that I could make dog treats without so many additives. So, I started making them little cookies and treats. After sharing the treats with my friends, I was asked to make more, again and again. Because of this, Barley's Bites was born. 

I handmake every treat myself, from freeze-dried beef liver to rolling out our delicious cookies. Of course, there’s some chaos involved with three corgis at my feet during the process. They make sure everything is taste-tested and approved before it ever hits the shelves. I’ve even had my friends’ dogs join the fun; one dog was so enthusiastic about our treats that he nearly tried to eat his owner's fingers!
